FairTrip Pte. Ltd. (“FairTrip”, “we”, “us”) is building a fair-by-design ride-hailing service for Singapore. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We handle personal data in line with Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA). As we have not yet launched, today this mainly covers people who join our waitlist or contact us.
01 Information we collect
We only collect what we need to run the service and improve it. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:
Information you give us
- Contact details — name, email address and, at launch, your mobile number.
- Account details for riders and drivers, including profile photo and, for drivers, licence and vehicle information.
- Messages you send us through forms, email or in-app support.
Information collected automatically
- Trip details such as pickup and drop-off points, your offered price and accepted bids.
- Approximate or precise location while you use the app, to match you with nearby drivers.
- Device and usage data — device type, app version, and basic diagnostics.
Payment information
When payments go live, transactions are processed by regulated payment partners. We do not store your full card or bank details on our own systems.
02 How we use your information
- To operate the bidding marketplace — sending your trip request to nearby drivers and showing you their bids.
- To create and manage rider and driver accounts and verify driver eligibility.
- To process payments, payouts and our flat commission.
- To keep trips safe — identity checks, support, and fraud prevention.
- To send service messages and, where you’ve agreed, product updates about our launch.
- To understand and improve how FairTrip performs.
03 Consent & legal basis
We collect, use and disclose personal data with your consent, or where permitted or required under the PDPA and other applicable laws. By joining the waitlist or using FairTrip, you consent to the handling of your data as described here. You can withdraw consent at any time (see Your rights), though some features may stop working as a result.
05 How long we keep it
We retain personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required for legal, tax and accounting reasons. Waitlist details are kept until launch and for a reasonable period after, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
07 Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work hard to protect your information and review our practices regularly.
08 Your rights
Under the PDPA, you may:
- Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Withdraw your consent to our collection, use or disclosure of your data.
To make a request, email privacy@fairtrip.sg. We will respond within the timeframes required by law and may need to verify your identity first.
09 Children
FairTrip is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
10 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves and ahead of launch. When we make material changes, we’ll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of FairTrip after changes means you accept the updated policy.
